  • Colombia is one of the world's top destinations, evidenced by the sector’s growth figures: In 2018, with 4.3 million visitors, inbound tourism in Colombia grew 7,7 % compared to 2017 twice than America’s growth. At the end of 2018, there were positive figures for the arrival of non-resident foreigners (9.4%) and cruise ship visitors (10.9%). (Migration Colombia – MinCit).

  • In Latin America, the greenfield projects concentrate 95% of the foreign investment of the tourism sector. Between 2003 and 2018, Colombia was the fifth country with the largest number of FDI projects in the tourism sector (38) after Mexico (149), Brazil (89), Cuba (41) and Dominican Republic (40) and above Argentina (34), Chile (24), Panama (22), Peru(21) and Costa Rica (18).

  • 1 out of every 10 Jobs are generated through tourism sector in the world. In Colombia, in 2017, 79,000 new jobs were created (+ 4.3% vs. 2016). Between 2010 and 2017, the employment generated by the sector reached 1,902,940 people.

  • Colombia has 13 international airports and more than 1,000 direct weekly flights that connect the country with the rest of the world. Currently, 25 international airlines operate directly from Colombia, more than Perú (25), Chile (23 and Ecuador (18), but fewer than Dominican Republic (54), Mexico (52) and Costa Rica (32).

  • Colombia registered 52,980 anual frequencies, more than Ecuador (15,897), Costa Rica (26,649) Chile (32,873), Perú (37,256) and Dominican Republic (44,889), but fewer than Mexico (182,178). (0AG).

  • According to Cotelco, hotel occupancy in Colombia averaged 55.12% in 2017 more than Chile (44.8%), Peru (49.4%) and Mexico (52.9%).
